Fire Education

We believe that fire safety begins with the children and each year Crawford participates in Fire Safety Week with educational programs and demonstrations. We visit the schools in our district and instruct the children in various programs such as Stop, Drop and Roll, which teach children what to do if their clothes catch fire and E.D.I.T.H., or Exit Drills In The Home, which teaches advanced planning in case of fire. Tours of the fire station and equipment by various groups of children and adults, shows them the daily operations of a fire station. The children and some adults really enjoy holding a fire hose while we flow water.

	Fire Prevention
		Crawford Township actively participates in all Fire Prevention Programs. Smoke Detector installation is one of the new programs that have been enthusiastically received by the resident of Crawford Township . Visits to the Senior Center to demonstrate smoke detector operation and fire safety in the home has been a great success. Crawford Township Volunteers have spent many hours delivering and installing smoke detectors for residents, especially the elderly. The program continues in 2006 with more donated detectors to be installed.
